You may know Rico Tallud as one of the founders of Be Well. The Art of Asian Therapies, one of the city's top spas and massage centers. An "ideas guy," Tallud is excited about a new project, an on-demand draw and print center called Diti (Draw It, Take It!), located at 2250 W. Foster. Tallud says the inspiration for Diti came from a birthday party he wanted to have for one of his children and creating t-shirts for the event. That conversation with his business partner, Tony Grammatis, sparked the idea. Grammatis, a childhood friend of Tallud's, already had the fully-operational print production business, and the two talked about how to best utilize a commercial space that became available next door. That entrepreneurial mindset was the catalyst for Tallud and Grammatis to collaborate, share ideas and launch Diti. Read more

Over the past year, Rev. Billy's Chop Shop (4314 N. Lincoln) has become a Northcenter staple, thanks to bold, innovative hairstylists, the rotating showcase of cutting-edge local artists whose work adorns the salon's walls and, of course, for a mysterious and highly effective substance known as HAIR CRAP. We are so excited to congratulate Rev. Billy's on a great first year in the Northcenter neighborhood, and we hope you'll celebrate with them this weekend at another neighborhood institution, Tiny Lounge, for a celebration with a raffle, prizes, an open bar, great food and more! November 28th is Small Business Saturday, and we hope you'll shop local! There's something for everyone among Northcenter's shops and boutiques, many of which have online shops as well for added convenience. To help you find that perfect gift in the neighborhood, we've created a gift guide with locally-available gifts for everyone, from clothes and accessories to home goods and more! We hope you'll take advantage of this tool on Small Business Saturday and whenever you do your holiday shopping. Be on the lookout for more great deals and events later this week! Read more

Our favorite purveyors of bacon sausage brought home the bacon at the annual World Food Championships. Big Fork Brands founder Lance Avery earned accolades in the Best Burger category at the event. He describes the experience of competing as "organized chaos," but the payoff sure was sweet. "We were sitting 8th place after the first burger," Avery says. "During the awards they started calling folks up to the stage, starting with number 10 and going to first place. Once we hit 4th, I just assumed we were out. I shot a text to my wife in Chicago saying, 'We're done.' When they called us up as #1, I was in disbelief. The biggest shock in my life, hands down." Read more
